How Inplay works

Inplay turns baseball situational awareness into a short daily practice: choose one defender, read the game state and batted ball, make the call, then see how the whole defense connects.

1. Choose a position

Pick any of the nine defensive roles. Practice the position you play, study a teammate's perspective, or challenge yourself to read the same game from somewhere new.

2. Read the play

See the outs, occupied bases, coach's call, and batted-ball path. Then decide your role using the Inplay Thinking Guide:

Team-system caveat: This sequence helps you ask better questions; it is not a universal team rule. Coaches may install different assignments. Current Inplay tactics are demonstration-unverified.

3. Make the call and see the team

Select field, cover, back up a throw, back up the ball, relay, or hold. After the server checks your answer and confirms it is correct, it reveals the coordinated demonstration for all nine defenders.

4. Complete the daily three

Play Easy, Medium, and Hard situations in a few minutes. The goal is not trivia; it is the habit of reading one step ahead before the ball forces a decision.
